NDIS respite care and short term accommodation provides temporary support that gives primary carers a break from their caring responsibilities. At Caring Supports, we see respite as an opportunity for positive experiences for everyone, with comprehensive support provided for everyday needs.
Respite That Really Works
Quality experiences for participants, not just supervision
Peace of mind through trusted, consistent care
Flexible options from a few hours to several days
Full support for all daily living needs while away from home.
Support that strengthens family sustainability
We understand that taking a break can feel like abandoning responsibility. Our respite care ensures everyone benefits: carers recharge, participants enjoy engaging support, and families stay strong together.
Your loved one stays in familiar surroundings while you take a break. Support workers maintain regular routines, providing companionship, meal support, and all necessary care. Perfect for short breaks or regular weekly respite.
Short Term Accommodation
Professional short term accommodation respite in appropriate settings. We provide comprehensive support including all daily care needs, and engaging activities in a safe, comfortable environment.
Overnight Respite
Whether for one night or several, we provide comprehensive overnight support. This includes evening meal support, overnight monitoring, morning care, and maintaining the comfort and safety participants need.
Weekend Respite
Regular weekend breaks help carers maintain balance. We provide full support from Friday evening through Sunday night, ensuring continuity of care, proper meal support, and enjoyable activities.
Emergency Respite
When unexpected situations arise (carer illness, family emergencies), we provide rapid response respite care, often within hours. Our established relationships mean we can step in quickly with complete support including meal assistance.
Holiday Respite
Enjoy holidays knowing your loved one is receiving quality care. We provide extended respite that maintains all routines including meal preferences, with regular updates for your peace of mind.

Can participants stay in their own home during respite?
Absolutely. In-home respite is our most popular option, keeping participants comfortable in familiar surroundings with established routines and meal support.
How do families access respite funding?
Respite may be funded through Core Supports or Short Term Accommodation (STA). Core Supports can often be used flexibly, but STA must be specifically included in your NDIS plan during planning meetings. We can guide you through the best option for your situation.
How much notice do you need for respite?
Respite should be arranged with as much notice as possible, ideally four weeks, so we can organise accommodation, plan activities with the participant, and ensure the right staff are available to support during this time. For emergency respite, we respond as quickly as possible, often within hours for existing participants.
What’s included in short term accommodation respite?
Our short term accommodation includes all personal care, meal support, medication assistance, activities, and 24/7 supervision in appropriate settings.
Will it be the same support workers?
Where possible, yes. We prioritise using workers who already know the participant. If new workers are needed, we arrange introductions first.
